Aboynagar BNP calls for hartal today
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Abhoynagar upazila unit in Jessore has called for a daylong hartal in the upazila today demanding immediate arrest of the killers of Rafiqul Islam, organising secretary of the unit.
Rafiqul Islam, 45, also a former CBA leader of Bengal Textile Mills, was bombed to death near Noapara Bazar in Jessore on Friday night.
Unidentified criminals hurled a bomb at Rafiq when he reached neat the mill at Noapara Bazar at around 8:30pm. He died instantly.
The hartal call came from a protest rally held in the upazila town soon after the killing of the BNP leader. Local BNP also took out a procession in the town on Friday night demanding arrest of the killers.
