Two die after taking spurious liquor
Two people died while three others fell sick after drinking spurious liquor in Charpanchakola village yesterday.
The deceased are Md. Abdul Hannan, 30, son of Nojer Ali and Md. Mannan Hossain, 32, son of Mojibar Rahman of village Panchakola in Bera upazila.
Those who fell sick are undergoing treatment at Pabna Medical College Hospital.
One of the victims at hospital said, they went to remove jatra (opera) pandel in the village yesterday morning. Their they found a bottle of liquor inside the pandel. "We drank it out of curiosity and fell sick", he said.
Mannan died on the spot while Hannan died on the way to Pabna Medical College Hospital, he said.
Three victims are undergoing treatment at the hospital, said Dr. Mahafuzul Islam, medical officer, adding they cannot say what type of liquor it was before being tested.
Police investigating the incident, said Abdul Hye Sarker, officer in-chaige of Bera police station.
