20 injured as AL men attack BNP procession in Bajitpur
At least 20 activists of opposition BNP and its front organisations were injured in an attack allegedly by Awami League men at Bajitpur upazila headquarters here yesterday noon.
Witnesses said upazila unit BNP brought out a procession yesterday on the occasion of Independence Day.
When the BNP men were crossing Harishava point in a procession, some Awami League activists locked in an altercation with a few of them. At one slage, the AL men, equipped with sticks attacked them, leaving 20 people injured .
Two of the seriously injured were admitted to Zahurul Islam Medical College Hospital and another to uapzila health complex.
District BNP convenor and former MP Mujibur Rahman Manju said, ALcadres attacked on the BNP procession without any provocation.
