Order to file case against cops stayed
The District and Sessions Judge's Court yesterday stayed the lower court order to file a case against two police officers who provided 'baseless' information to the court.
Judge Md Abdul Majid passed the order after public prosecutor Hamidul Islam filed a revision prayer.
The court also fixed May 21 for the next hearing and ordered to produce relevant documents of the case, said the court sources.
Earlier on Wednesday, Judicial Magistrate Md Shohag Talukdar of the lower court issued the order to lodge a case against Md Akram Hossain, officer in-charge of Ghoraghat police station and Insar Ali, sub-inspector of the PS, by March 28.
The court also asked the Anti-Corruption Commissioner (ACC) to investigate the matter.
Sources said, Insar arrested one Md Fazlur Rahman on charge of assaulting a local UP chairman Md Mofazzal Hossain and produced him before the court on March 20.
After examining all documents, the court found no evidence of attack by Fazlur and passed the order to file a case.
