Mysterious death of two cousins in Sunamganj
Bodies of two cousins were found hanging from the ceiling of a house at Sultanpur village in Dakkhin Sunamganj upazila of Sunamganj district yesterday.
The deceased are Sajal Das, 20, son of Sudha Das of Taila village of the upazila and Sabuj Das, 21, son of Sukesh Das of Losimpur village in Derai upazila.
Sajal and Sabuj had been staying at the house of Babul Majumdar, the maternal uncle of the former, at the village.
They were preparing to appear at the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination from April 1 from local Abdul Majid College.
UNB quoting police said neighbours went to call Sajal and Sabju as they did not open the door of the house even though it was 9:30 am.
Only the two were staying at the house as Babul and his wife went to Taila village on Friday to attend a family programme.
Getting no response from the duo, the neighbours peeped through a hole of the window only to see them hanging from the ceiling. Later, they informed police.
The law enforcers recovered the bodies and sent those to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Sub-inspector Mujibur Rahman of Dakkhin Sunamganj police station said they were investigating the incident.
"We cannot say immediately whether it is a case of suicide or murder", he said.
