Two teenage boys were arrested on charge of killing a schoolboy while a 'missing' teenage girl was found dead yesterday. Police arrested a teenage boy in Kushtia town and another teenage boy from Bianibazar upazila of Sylhet yesterday in connection with the murder of Irfan Ahmed Sanim, 14, a class IX student of Kushtia High School. The arrestees are Ashraful Islam alias Apu, 16, and Azimur Rahman alias Prince, 16, both 'friends' of the victim and SSC examinees. Of them, Apu confessed to his involvement with the killing, said sub-inspector of Kushtia Sadar Model police station Azizul Haque, also the investigation officer of the case. However, the reason behind the killing could not be known immediately, the SI said. On Thursday, unidentified criminals killed Sanim by slitting his throat at his Aruapara residence in the town. Victim's mother filed a case against Apu and Prince with the local police station. Police arrested Apu from Alauddinnagar in Kumarkhali upazila around 2:00am yesterday. Meanwhile, a teenage girl who went missing on Friday night was found dead yesterday noon. She was found hanging from a branch of a tree at Bottail village in Sadar upazila of the district. The victim was identified as Lucky Khatun, 16, daughter of Azhar Uddin of the village. Police said that the girl was raped before the murder. “We have found evidence of rape at a place near the spat of the murder,” Kazi Jalal Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kushtia Model police station said. According to police, Lucky was a student of Class VI at Bottail High school. She gave up study in 2007 due to financial hardship of her family. She was staying at her father's house and involved in handicraft work. OC Jalal said the criminals might have abducted the girl and raped at the place and later hung her after killing.
