Schoolboy beaten to death, 3 arrested
A schoolboy was beaten to death allegedly by neighbours over a trivial matter in the town yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Tofael Ahmed, 14, class eight student of Azim Uddin High School and son of Md. Awlad Hossain of Manipurghat area in the town.
Police and locals said, Tofael locked in an altercation with Rasel, 12, of the same area while buying sweets from a shop near their house at around 8:00pm on Saturday.
On hearing the news of their altercation, Rina Akhter, 45, mother and Juena Akhter, 22, sister of Rasel came to the spot while Rasel beat up Tofael indiscriminately with a bamboo stick.
The family members rushed Tofael to Kishoreganj Adhunik Sadar Hospital from where he was shifted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital in a critical condition. But Tofael succumbed to his injuries there around 8:00am.
Awlad Hossain, father of the deceased, filed a murder case with Kishoreganj Sadar police station yesterday.
Mir Musharraf Hossain, officer in-charge (OC) of Sadar PS said, police arrested Rasel and his mother Rina Akhter and sister Juena Akhter in connection with the murder yesterday.
