Updating work of voter list starts in 2 Khulna upazilas

The first phase of updating of voter lists has begun in Rupsha and Terokhada upazilas ahead of next general elections. According to the source of District Election Office (DEO), the updating work started in the upazilas yesterday and will continue till March. Photographs and fingerprints of probable voters would be taken there from March 21 to June 21 at the union level voter registration centres. Enumerators will visit door-to-door at Paikgacha and Koira upazilas from June 19 to June 28 to collect information while the process for taking photographs and scanning fingerprints would start there from June 29 and will continue till October 6. Updating works of the electoral roll will start at Batiaghata, Digholia, Dumuria and Dakop upazilas on October 4 and will continue till October 13 while photographs and fingerprints of probable voters will be taken from October 14 to January 20 next year. On the other hand, the updating task to collect information with enumerators, who will visit door-to-door, will start at Phultala upazila from January 18 and continue till January 27 and other areas under Sadar, Sonadanga, Khalishpur and Daulatpur Police stations of the city. Photographs and fingerprints would be taken from January 28 to April 30, said DEO officer Bibhor Kumar Biswas. Referring the shortage of manpower in the district and upazila election offices, he emphasised to fulfil the vacant posts to carry out the updating task smoothly.
