College girl, elderly man commit 'suicide'
A college girl and an elderly man allegedly committed suicide in Lalmonirhat and Satkhira districts on Sunday and the day before.
A college girl allegedly killed herself by taking insecticide at Paschim Doljor village of Aditmari upazila of Lalmonirhat on Sunday, reports our correspondent.
Victim Asnaul Husna, 20, was daughter of Azimuddin. She was a second year BA student at Mozida Khatun Govt Woman's College in the district.
Quoting family members, OC of Admitmari PS Mahfuzur Rahman said, Husna returned home from her college at around 12.03pm. After a while she entered her bed room and locked it from inside. Later she was found dead when they family members entered the room breaking open the door at around 1pm.
The reason behind her suicide could not be known immediately.
In Satkhira, a 65-year-old man allegedly committed suicide at village Dhumghat Hasarchar in Shyamnagar upazila on Saturday, reports our correspondent.
The victim was identified as Prafulla Awlia of the village.
Quoting locals police said, Prafulla took his life at night by hanging from the branch of a tree near his house.
Local people and the relatives of the victim saw the body hanging from the tree in the morning and informed the police.
Prafulla committed suicide due to family feud, neighbours said.
