Six accused in Saad murder confess to their crime
"We killed Saad. First, we hit him on the head with a rod, then, holding him on one side of the bed, we slit his throat," confessed the two key-accused in the Rajshahi college-student Saad murder case.
The murder was carried out with a plan to realise a ransom of Tk 5 crore from Saad's parents, stated the judicial confessional statement given by the duo Wednesday night.
Al Awal Koel, 21, and Suit Reza, 22, hailed from Gomostapur and Rohonpur in Chapainawabganj, confessed their crime in front of metropolitan magistrate Mamun-or-Rashid.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Alamgir Jahan of Rajpara Police Station, also investigating officer of the case, said the duo confessed that they along with two others committed the murder at a private dormitory in Sheroil Mothpukur area.
The two others - Kaysar Ahmed Anik and Masud Ibne Ali alias Shawan rented the dormitory only a week before for the murder incident. Rashedul Islam Bipu and Ishra Haque Oishi also assisted in covering the murder, said the SI quoting from the statement.
One night before the incident, Anik and Suit invited Saad to stay over at the dormitory and tricked him into taking sleeping pills. Next morning, when he woke up, Koel slit his throat while others held him tight. Later, they hid the body in sewer in the dormitory building compound, the statement said.
Anik, Shawan and Saad studied in the same coaching center while Koel and Suit were known to Saad from his hometown in Chapainawabganj.
They planned of murdering Saad after he informed them that his father had some Tk 70 crore in bank deposit, the SI said adding, they confessed of trying to kill Saad several times before.
Anik, Shawan, Bipu and Oishi, who were arrested in connection with the murder, also gave judicial confessions, said police.
Police collected 18 kinds of evidence from the arrestees including Saad's cloths, mobile phones and the knife used in the murder.
During Koyel's arrest on February 16, he was wearing Saad's Jacket, said police.
Inspector Anisur Rahman of Rajpara Police Station said they seized a number of evidences and circumstantial evidence to support the judicial statements of the six accused persons. “We will submit the charge sheet very soon,” he added.
Nadimuzzaman Saad, a HSC student of Rajshahi Model School and College, hailed from chapainawanganj, was abducted from his home on January 17 evening and, next day, his body was found in a sewer.
