Two arrested for smuggling
A team of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) and coastguard arrested two persons in connection with smuggling in zero point area under Batiaghata Police Station of the district on Wednesday night.
The arrested were identified as Rabiul Islam, 24, a trucker, and Rana Sheikh, 20, his helper.
Acting on a tip-off, the team detained the truck loaded with smuggled Indian sarees and cloths worth about Tk 5 crore and arrested them, said Rezaul Karim, assistant superintendent of police (ASP).
