Two sink in quicksand
Two friends sank in a quicksand at a shoal of the Padma River in the district Friday afternoon.
Residents of the capital's old part, Rafiqul Islam Rocky, 21, and Faizul Islam, 20, and their friends had gone to the shoal at Mawa to spend the weekend.
When they were playing football in the shoal, three including Rocky and Faizul got stuck in the quicksand.
Local fishermen rescued the three and rushed them to Sreenagar upazila health complex where doctors declared Rocky and Faizul dead, said Mizanur Rahman, officerin-charge of Sreenagar police station.
