Chairman of Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Regional Council Chairman Jyotirindra Bodhipriya Larma yesterday called upon all to get united for full implementation of the CHT peace accord, following the footstep of Manabendra Narayan Larma (MN Larma), the founder of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS). MN Larma spoke about full autonomy and self-determination of jummo people and struggled for establishing their rights, he said. Jyotirindra Bodhipriya Larma, popularly known as Santu Larma, was speaking as the chief discussant at a memorial meeting marking 28th death anniversary of MN Larma at the hall room of district Shilpakala Academy. Terming his elder brother MN Larma as a great hero, Santu Larma, who is also the chief of PCJSS, said there was conspiracy from national and international level behind the assassination of MN Larma along with his eight followers in 1983. The people in CHT are passing their days amid serious insecurity due to frequent incidents of killing and abduction but the government is not taking proper action against crimes committed by anti-peace forces despite having adequate law enforcers including army men in the region, Santu said. The dream of MN Larma has remained unfulfilled as the peace deal is yet to see full execution 14 years after its signing, said the PCJSS chief. Chakma Raja Devasish Roy attended as chief guest at the meeting organised by MN Larma Memorial Foundation. Among others, educationist Dr Manik Lal Dewan, Gautam Dewan, Latika Talukder, Mongal Kumar Chakma and advocate Jewel Dewan addressed the meeting presided over by Bijoy Keton Chakma, convenor of MN Larma Foundation. Earlier, PCJSS Rangamati district unit, and it front organisations -- CHT Mohila Samity, Pahari Chhatra Parishad and Jubo Samity brought out a mourning procession in the town and placed wreaths at the portrait of MN Larma at district Shilpakala Academy.
