Bangladeshi hurt in BSF firing

A Bangladeshi cattle trader was shot and injured by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Nagorvita border in Baliadangi upazila yesterday. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) sources said BSF men of Chaklagarh camp opened fire on Sohrab Hossain , 25, son of Solaiman Ali of Dalal Bosti village in the upazila, when he along with some other cattle traders went to the the border area in the evening. Sohrab was injured but the other cattle traders managed to return home. Sohrab, hit by bullet in waist, was first admitted to Sadar Hospital and later shifted to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital as his condition deteriorated. In Satkhira, BGB men arrested an Indian national from Shitalpur village in Kaliganj upazila yesterday, reports our correspondent. The arrestee was identified as Rakesh Biswas, 23, son of Narayan Biswas of Tridevpur village in Basanti police station in West Bengal (Pashchimbanga). BGB and police sources said, acting on a tip-off, BGB men of Basantapur camp of 7 BGB battalion in Kaliganj upazila arrested him and later handed over to police. Rakesh told the BGB men that he had come to his relative's house in Bangladesh during Durga Puja celebration. He said he was arrested while returning home.
