One killed in Jamalpur land dispute
A farmer was killed by his rivals over land dispute at Dharabarsha village in Sarishabari upazila yesterday morning.
The deceased was identified as Abdus Sattar, 75, of the village.
Officer in-charge of Sarishabari PS Qamrul Ahsan, quoting locals said, there was a longstanding dispute between Abdus Sattar and his neighbour Dudu Member over the ownership of a piece of land.
Village elders time and again tried to settle the dispute but failed, he added.
Locals said an altercation ensued between them over the issue at around 8:00am and at one stage, supporters of Dudu Member stabbed Sattar indiscriminately, leaving him dead on the spot.
Police, on information, recovered the body and sent it to Jamalpur General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
A case was filed. Police arrested Afzal, 30, Rawshanara Begum, 30, Shahina Begum, 35, and Jarina Begum in this connection.
