Extortionists kill woman
A woman was beaten to death by extortionists at Golaghata in Keshabpur upazila in Jessore district Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Shefali Begum, 40.
Police said, when a bridal party was going to Jhenaidah from Paikgachha upazila in Khulna in a human hauler, two local criminals-Faruq,21 and Majibar,50-halted the vehicle at Golaghata.
They demanded extortion from the passengers.
As they refused the criminals attacked them with stick, leaving Shefali dead on the spot and other six passengers, including the bride and bridegroom, injured.
Injured driver Ahed Ali, Shiblu, 22,(bridegroom), Lima,(bride), 18, Matiur, 60, Rokeya Begum, 40 and Sufia Begum, 50 were admitted to Keshabpur hospital.
