All 18 Sramik Dal, JCD men acquitted
A court here on Sunday acquitted all the 18 leaders and activists of Chhatra Dal and Sramik Dal of charges of vandalism in a case filed with Khulna Sadar police station in June.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sheikh Abdul Ahad delivered the judgement in the afternoon.
The acquitted are senior vice president of city unit of Chhatra Dal M.A. Kafi alias Sakha, general secretary S.M. Kamal Hossain, Mashiur Rahman Jadu, Ferdaus Alam Milon, Arifur Rahman, Babul Hawlader, Murad, Sardar Mizan, Zakir Hossain, Rafiqul Islam, Zia, Noor Alam, Zahirul Islam, Jewel, Shamim Khan, Jony, Shaheen and Babu.
All but two accused -- Shahin and Babu -- were present at the court at the time of judgement.
According to the prosecution story in brief, Anowar Hossain, driver of an easy bike lodged an FIR with Khulna PS on June 17 this year accusing 12 leaders of Chhatra Dal of vandalising and damaging different modes of vehicles on June 16 after police foiled a protest procession brought out from BNP office.
However, on June 27, SI Jelhasuddin of Khulna Sadar PS, who investigated the case, submitted charge sheet to court against 18 leaders and activists of Chhatra Dal and Sramik Dal.
The court recorded statements of seven prosecution witnesses (PWs) during the trial.
All the 18 charge sheeted accused have been acquitted as their guilt could not be proved beyond doubt, the court observed in the judgement.
