Jubo League leader killed allegedly by party rivals
A Jubo League leader was hacked to death allegedly by his rivals in the party in Kamarpara area of Rangpur town on Sunday night.
The dead is Sajid Parvez Jadu, join convener of Jubo League Rangpur town unit.
Police said Jadu was one of the contractors of Rangpur Water Development Board (WDB). A few days ago, two groups of contractors belonging to the local Awami League were locked in a clash over a Tk 23 crore tender, they said, adding that Jadu might have been killed by his rival contractors over the tender dispute.
Jadu's father Sohel Ahmed of Babupara area in the town said Dual Mohanta and Bonka alias Apple of Kamarpara area called Jadu over cellphone at around 10:00pm on Sunday. Receiving the phone call, he went out of the house and did not return home, Sohel Ahmed added.
Locals found Jadu's body on a field near the house of Dulal Mohanta in Kamarpara area in the morning and informed the police who recovered the body at 8:00am and sent it to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital morgue for autopsy.
A murder case was filed with Kotwali Police Station against Dulal, Apple and some unidentified people. Dulal and Apple had gone into hiding. Police picked up Dulal's father Santosh Mohanta from the house for quizzing.
AL Rangpur district unit and its associate bodies have condemned the killing and demanded arrest and punishment of the killers.
