Foreign vessel detained
Mongla Port Authority has detained Vietnamese vessel MV New Energy at the Passur channel on receiving a copy of High Court order on Monday. The ship laden with imported wheat arrived at the port on October 4 from Chittagong Port. The vessel cannot leave Mongla Port unless and until it makes full payment of all outstanding bills of a supply firm, according to the HC order. Trans World Marine Service, a firm in Chittagong filed a writ petition with the High Court bringing allegation against the ship for non-payment of dues. However, unloading of the imported wheat began yesterday morning amid tight security measures, port sources said.
