2 policemen suspended for neglect of duty
Two policemen were suspended yesterday on charge of negligence of duty after an alleged snatcher ran away from their custody.
The suspended two policemen are constable Tariqul Islam and Nayek Hamiduzaman.
Officer in-charge (OC) of Jessore Kotowali police station Emdadul Haque said, a mob caught Sajjad Hossain, a criminal of Batterypotty under Jessore town, red-handed yesterday morning while he was robbing a woman in front of Zilla School. Locals also gave him a good beating.
Police rescued seriously injured Sajjad and sent him to the Sadar Hospital for treatment.
Six policemen were posted at the hospital to guard him. Sajjad, however, ran away from the hospital when constable Tariqul took him to the toilet.
Additional Police Superintendent Zakir Hossain said, mother and a brother of Sajjad have been detained for interrogation.
A case has been filed with Kotowali police station in this regard.
