Two police informers beaten up on rape charge
A mob beat two police informants as they allegedly violated a minor girl at a slum in the city's Karwan Bazar yesterday.
The injured -- Mizanur Rahman, 48 and Anwar Hossain Anu, 40, -- were undergoing treatment at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Officer-in-Charge of Tejgaon Shilpanchal Police Station Omar Faruq told this correspondent that local people handed them to the police after beating allegedly for violating an 11-year-old girl at Karwan Bazar Railway slum around 12:30pm.
Victim's mother lodged an allegation against them with the police station in this connection, he added.
Quoting the victim, Omar Faruq said Mizan allured the girl and took her to his residence after she had went out of her residence on Saturday night.
They released her from the house yesterday morning after raping the girl, he added. Later, the girl informed the matter to her mother. Locals beat them following her mother's allegation.
The detainees told reporters at the hospital that they were victims of conspiracy as they helped police seize drugs from the slum.
Omar Faruq said they will send the victim to DMCH for medical test today.
