3 sued on charge of hoarding fertiliser

Three people were sued on Friday night on charge of hoarding at least 20,310 sacks of fertiliser illegally. The accused are Mosaddeque Hossain, fertiliser dealer and former senior vice chairman of Dinajpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, dealer Abdus Sattar and Farida Yasmin, wife of Sujaur Rab, president of District Fertiliser Association. Abul Hossain, a fertiliser inspector of Dinajpur and agriculture officer of the district filed the case with Dinajpur police station. However, police said they are yet to arrest anybody in connection with the case. Earlier, a mobile court led by Md Abdur Rahman, an executive magistrate of Dinajpur, acting on a tip-off, raided at a cold storage in Pulhat area in the town and found 13,397 sacks of fertiliser on June 2. Of them 10,800 sacks were urea. Later, the mobile court again found another two warehouses in the same area and recovered 6,913 sacks of fertiliser. Of them, 4,802 sacks were urea. The court sealed off all the three warehouses. The warehouses were rented by Md Mosaddeque Hossain and Abdus Sattar where they stocked the fertiliser illegally. Hasan Shamim Iqbal, officer-in-charge of Dinajpur said they filed a case in this regard. Sub-inspector of Dinajpur police station Mamun-ur Rashid will investigate the case, he said.
