Atghoria municipal election June 12
Election to Atghoria municipality in the district will be held on June 12, according to a schedule announced yesterday.
Atghoria Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Saidur Rahman, also the returning officer, announced the election schedule on receipt of a letter issued by the Election Commission.
As per schedule, the last date for submission of nomination papers is May 16 while scrutiny will take place on May 18 and 19. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is May 26.
Atghoria municipality was formed in 2006, comprising 12 wards from Debottar and Chandva unions. Upazila unit BNP President Md Aminul Haque was appointed its administrator.
The municipality will go to polls for the first time on June 12 since its formation.
The number of voters in the municipality now stands at 9.5 thousands, pourasava office sources said.
Local administration is taking necessary preparations to hold a free, fair and peaceful election to the municipality.
