Classes, examinations suspended after violent BCL protest
All classes and examinations at Comilla University were suspended yesterday due to violent protest by the activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).
A section of BCL activists brought out a procession at about 10am, exploded five cocktails and put the academic building under lock and key protesting the expulsion of their leader Nurul Amin Sabuj.
They also swooped on the cars of additional district magistrate Sayed Mahbub Khan and officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar South PS Jashim Uddin on the campus.
Acting registrar Kamal Uddin Bhuiyan said the authorities suspended the classes and exams following the incident.
The university authorities recently expelled BCL leader Nurul Amin, first year student of Bangla department, for his indecorous behaviour with a female classmate as well for indiscipline on the campus.
The ruling Awami League backed student front has been agitating since Saturday to press home their demand for withdrawal of the expulsion order.
