Election schedules for 38 Narail UPs
Elections to 38 union parishads in three upazilas of Narail district will be held from June 9 to 29.
As per schedule, voting will take place in seven unions of Sadar upazila on June 9 and six unions of the same upazila on June 15, six unions of Kalia upazila on June 19 and seven unions of the same upazila on June 23, six unions of Lohagara upazila on June 26 and the remaining six unions of the upazila on June 29\, reports our correspondent.
District Election Officer Mohammad Jahangir Alam said the voters are expected to cast their votes in the elections on scheduled dates to elect chairmen and councillors of their respective union parishads.
He further said necessary measures will be taken to hold free, fair and peaceful elections to 38 union pasrishads.
Our Natore correspondent reported that a total of 65 candidates were yesterday submitted nomination papers for the posts of chairman of ten union parishads in Lalpur upazila of the district.
Upazila Election Officer Fatima Khatun said seven candidates submitted nominations papers for the post of chairman of Lalpur Union Parishad, eight for Duyaria Union Parishad, seven for Ishwardi Union Parishad, seven For Bilmaria Union Parishad, seven for Durduria Union Parishad, three for Arbab Union Parishad, seven for Chang Dhupoil Union Parishad, four for Walia Union Parishad, seven for Kadamchilan Union Parishad, and eight for Arjunpur Baromhat Union Parishad. Scrutiny of the nomination papers will be held on May 11 and 12.
Besides, 437 candidates submitted nominations for the posts of member while 132 women for reserved seats. Voting will take place in ten unions of the upazila on June 4.
