Bangladesh Chhatra League unit of Hajee Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU) enforced an indefinite strike on the campus yesterday demanding removal of the vice chancellor for his alleged failure to check corruption. Earlier, the BCL unit of the university issued a 24-hour ultimatum on Wednesday for removal of VC Dr. Professor Afzal Hossain. The indefinite strike that started at 8:30am paralysed the university activities. Examinations of various semesters were postponed due to the strike while no classes held. Teachers and general students were asked to remain indoors to avoid any untoward situation. BCL unit of HSTU has been agitating since last Sunday over various issues including corruption at the university and employees' political links with Jamaat and BNP. A 4-hour long strike was observed on Wednesday, students said.
