Elections to 71 UPs in Pabna May 31-July 3
Elections to 71 out of 73 union parishads (UP) in nine upazilas of Pabna district will be held from May 31 to July 3.
Elections to eleven UPs in Bera upazila will be held on May 31, six UPs in Faridpur upazila on June 6, five UPs in Bhangura upazila on June 8, eleven UPs in Chatmohar upazila on June 12, five UPs in Atghoria upazila on June 15, ten UPs in Sujanagar upazila on June 19, nine UPs in Santhia upazila on June 21, seven UPs in Ishwardi upazila on June 26, says a notice issued by district election officer (DEO) Md Faridul Islam.
Election to 10 union parishads in Pabna Sadar upazila will be held in two phases -- on June 29 in Dogasi, Bharara, Sadullapur, Chartarapur and Ataikula unions and on July 3 in Gayashpur, Maligasa, Dapunia, Malanchi and Hemayetpur unions.
Preparations are being made to hold the elections to the lowest tier of the local government polls peacefully, the DEO said.
The election will not be held in Karamja union under Santhia upazila and Bhangura union under Bhangura upazila this year due to cases pending with the court, he added.
