Abducted Tangail teacher rescued
Police on Tuesday rescued the female schoolteacher who was abducted in Ghatail upazila on April 17.
Shathi Ghosh, 22, an assistant teacher of Kuripara Government Primary School fled from a house in Tangail town, police said.
A gang of five led by one Basu of Falda village in Bhuapur upazila forcibly picked up Shathi on a microbus when she was waiting for bus in front of the Ghatail upazila parishad.
Victim's cousin Laxman Chandra Ghosh filed a case with Ghatail police station in this connection on the same day.
Mominur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ghatail police station, said after the abduction, Basu took Shathi to Tangail town and forced her to marry him.
Failing to convince her, Basu and his accomplices fled leaving Shathi in the town.
Police later sent Shathi to a magistrate court in Tangail for recording her statement under Section 164.
She was also taken to the Tangail General Hospital for medical check up.
Mohammad Shahim Miah, investigation officer (IO) of the case, said police are trying to arrest Basu and his accomplices.
