Two youths jailed for stalking schoolgirl

A mobile court here yesterday jailed two youths for stalking a schoolgirl in Shibchar upazila.
Sources said, Rubel Kabiraj and Ujjal Matbar stood on the way of a class nine girl of Bhadrasan GC Academy Tuesday afternoon when she was returning home.
The girl screamed and ran to her house. The two youths chased her to her house and harassed her. They also misbehaved with the mother of the girl and other women in the house.
At one stage, local people came to the rescue of the hapless family. The criminals hurled abuses at them, threatened them of dire consequences and took position at Bhadarsan Bazaar.
On information, a team of police from Bhadrasan outpost and Shibchar police station rushed to the spot and arrested the two youths at night.
Mobile court magistrate Md Tariqul Islam yesterday noon awarded six months simple imprisonment to Ujjal Matbar and four months simple imprisonment to Rubel Kabiraj.
Rubel Kabiraj is an accused in several cases including for robbery with Shibchar police station and Jazira PS under Shariatpur district, police said.
Away in Thakurgaon, at least 12 people were injured in clashes involving a case of sexual harassment at Choddohat Kali Mondir premises under Sadar upazila yesterday, reports our correspondent.
Local people said, on Tuesday evening, a14-year-old daughter of Karna Barman of Shantiram village was shopping at Fulkali Bazaar under the same upazila.
There, a youth named Modhu,25, of Jugipara village harassed her sexually.
Fleeing from the market, the girl told the incident to her neighbour Abinash.
Hearing this Abinash and his friends went to the market and protested the matter.
At one stage, Abinash and Modhu groups engaged in a clash leaving seven people injured.
Yesterday morning, Modhu and his accomplices came to Jugipara and attacked Abinash and others leaving five people injured.
Of the injured, Binod, Hiralal, Nurul, Budhu and Shakari were admitted to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital.
