They further said that they had already lodged complaints against the notorious land grabber and his henchmen to the deputy commissioner (DC), SP, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) and local public representatives several times but to no effect. Terming Nuruzzaman a local influential, they said, he used to grab lands with the help of 14-15 henchmen. If anyone disagreed to their proposal to leave khas lands, they tortured them both both mentally and physically. Not only that, they also harassed them by lodging false cases against them, the landless alleged. They also threatened to launch a tougher agitation if the district administration fails to take necessary action against the culprits without further delay. Contacted, Nuruzzaman denied the allegations brought against them saying he had purchased a few lands from genuine land owners but some landless people are giving false statements against him with the help of local criminals.
