Four stalkers punished
Mobile courts in Satkhira, Pabna and Kishoreganj districts have punished four youths for stalking.
A mobile court in Satkhira on Monday sentenced a youth to four months imprisonment for stalking a college student, reports our correspondent.
Convict Zakir Hossain, 27 is son of Ismail Hossain Gazi of village Sonatala.
Mobile court sources said Zakir used to stalk a honours student of Kaliganj College on her way to and from the college.
On Monday, he went to the house of the girl and allegedly tried to violate her in absence of the family members.
As she raised a hue and cry, locals rushed in and caught him red-handed from the spot.
The girl's father filed an allegation with Kaliganj PS against the youth soon after the incident and police arrested the accused.
A mobile court led by Kaliganj upazila Nirbahi officer Toufique Elahi Chowdury delivered the verdict.
In Pabna, two stalkers were jailed by a mobile court at Ishwardi upazila on Saturday evening, reports on correspondent.
Md Al Amin, 26, son of Ahmad Ali was sentenced to six months imprisonment while Nayan, 18, son of Anser Ali, was awarded four months jail.
Both the convicts hailed from Shaitbasia village of the upazila.
The mobile court led by Shamim Ahmed, assistant commissioner of the upazila handed down the punishment.
Officer-in-charge of Ishwardi Police Station Md. Samiul Alam said police arrested Al Amin in front of SM School and College following a harassment complaint by Muslima Akter Moni, a student of the college.
Nayan was arrested on charge of sexually harassing Mim, a class VI student of Ishwardi Girls High School.
The arrestees confessed to their guilt, the OC added.
In Kishoreganj, a youth was jailed on Monday for stalking.
Convict Sohel Mia, 22, is son of Abu Taher Mia of Chardehunda village in Karimganj, reports our correspondent.
According to sources, Sohel tried to violate a class four student of Ashutia Para Government Primary School.
Daughter of Farid Mia of Digarkalla village in Karimganj, She was going for shopping at a market on Sunday evening.
Sohel took her to a lonely place.
Hearing screams of the girl, locals rushed to the spot, caught Sohel red handed and handed him over to police.
Later, a mobile court led by UNO and first class magistrate of Karimganj Md. Abdullah Hakkani handed down the verdict Monday night.
