8 commit 'suicide' in two districts
Eight people allegedly committed suicide in Satkhira and Khagrachhari districts yesterday, the day before and on Friday.
Seven people including a teenage girl allegedly have committed suicide in Satkhira, reports our correspondent.
The victims were identified as Biplob Kumar Mondal, 20, son of Bonoy Kumar Mondal of Rautara village and Lila Rani Sarkar, 35, wife of Basudeb Chandra Sardar of Assassuni village in Assassuni upazila, Rashida Khatun, 35, wife of Ala Uddin Gazi of Narayanpur village in Kaliganj upazila and Masura Khatun, 14, daughter of Moslem Gazi of Kadamtala village in Shyamnagar upazila.
Quoting local people police said, Biplob, a student of Assassuni College and Masura, a class nine student of Banashree High school in Shyamnagar upazila took poison failing to marry their lovers and died at their residences yesterday and the day before.
Rashida Khatun committed 'suicide' by hanging herself in the ceiling of her house at about 9:30 pm on Saturday following a family feud.
In the other incident, Lila Rani Sarkar took poison at about 9:45 pm on Saturday. Local people took her to Assassuni upazila health complex where the on-duty doctor declared her dead at about 10:45 pm.
Besides, retired police constable Abdur Rashid Gazi, 55, son of Zobed Ali of Bathuadanga village in Kaliganj upazila, Ganesh Thakur, 48, son of Haren Thakur of Kamta village in Debhata upazila and Indrajit Ghosh, 22, son of Shib Pada Ghosh of Deara village in Kalaroa upazila committed suicide.
Quoting locals police said, following a family feud Abdur Rashid Gazi took poison at about 5:00 pm on Friday. He was taken to a local clinic in a critical condition.
He was shifted to Kalaroa upazila health complex as his condition deteriorated and the on-duty doctor declared him dead at about 9:00 pm on the same day.
In the other incident, Ganesh Thakur took poison at about 12:30 pm on Friday.
Local people took him to a local clinic where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Indrajit Ghosh took poison in his bedroom at about 8:00 am on Thursday. Hearing his screams, relatives of the victim took him to Kalaroa upazila health complex in a critical condition where he died at about 8:30 pm.
In Khagrachhari, a housewife committed suicide allegedly after a family feud at Shalda village of Ramgarh upazila in Khagrachhari early yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Rani Mandal, 28, wife of Omar Mandal of the village, reports our correspondent.
Police and family sources said, Rani took poison and also fed poison to her two years child Avijit Mondol at about 2:00am following a quarrel with her husband.
Locals rushed them to Manikchhari upazila health complex where the doctors declared Rani dead and referred Avijit to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital as his condition deteriorated.
Police sent the body to Khagrachhari Adhunik Sadar Hospital for autopsy and a case was filed with Ramgarh police station in this regard.
