Outlaw held with gun
A regional leader of Janajudhho faction of the outlawed Purbo Banglar Communist Party (PBCP) was arrested yesterday after a gunfight with police for about 25 minutes at a remote village in Chatmohar upazila.
The arrestee was identified as Md Kutub Ali Pramanik, 35, of Boro-Duglapara village in the aforesaid upazila. He was a regional leader of PBCP Janajudhha faction and an accused in eight criminal cases including two for murder, police said.
Police arrested him when he received bullet injury on his leg. Police also recovered a LG and two bullets from the spot.
Chatmohar police station officer-in-charge Sayed Shahid Alam said, acting on a tip-off that criminals were holding a secret meeting at Duglapara Non-Government Primary School, a police team raided there at about 2:30 pm yesterday.
