Jatka, lobster fry seized in Bhola
Coastguard members in separate drives in Meghna river here recovered 30 maunds Jatka (hilsa fry), three lakh pieces of lobster fry, 50,000 meters current net from two trawlers on Friday.
A team of south zone coastguards conducted a drive in the river near Bishwaroad area and arrested seven people along with a trawler and recovered 3 lakh pieces of lobster fry kept in 350 containers.
The arrestees said they were going to Khulna from Noakhali to supply the fry to the shrimp enclosure owners.
In another drive, the coastguard members raided Tulatolir Bhangtir Khal area in Sadar upazila and seized a trawler along with 30 maunds hilsa fry and 50,000 meters of current net in the afternoon.
Later, the coastguard members sold the hilsha fry at auction for only Tk 60,500 and destroyed the fishing nets by setting them on fire.
They also released the lobster fries in the Meghna river and freed the arrestees.
