AL activist killed in clash with BNP
An Awami League (AL) activist was killed and 25 others were injured in a clash between the AL and BNP men in Kumarkhali upazila of Kushtia Tuesday evening.
The dead, Samiul Islam Simul, 36, was an activist of upazila Awami League.
According to police, Simul, son of Mannan Molla of Salgharmadhua village, had an altercation with BNP activist Mohammad Ali over some political issues on Tuesday afternoon.
Hearing the news, activists of both the parties later locked in a clash that left 26 people from both sides injured.
Of the injured, Simul received injuries on the head. He was taken to Kushtia General Hospital and then shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) where he succumbed to his injuries.
A case was filed against 100 BNP men, including Mohammad Ali, with Kumarkhali Police Station. None of the accused was arrested as of filing of this report at 7:00pm yesterday.
