6, 788 file nominations for 1,469 posts in 113 Patuakhali, Bhola UPs
Six thousand seven hundred and eighty-eight candidates submitted nomination papers for 1,469 posts in 113 union parishads (UPs) under Patuakhali and Bhola districts till Sunday, the last date for filing nominations.
Of them, 683 want to vie for 113 chairman posts, 4,751 for 1,356 general members and 1,358 for 339 reserved female member posts, according to sources at election offices of the districts.
In Patuakhali, 79 candidates submitted nomination papers for chairman posts, 491 for general member posts and 153 in reserve female members posts in 12 union parishads under Sadar upazila, 73 for chairman posts, 595 for general member posts and 235 for reserve female members posts in 14 union parishads under Baufal upazila, 14 for chairman posts, 163 for general member posts and 45 for reserve female members posts in five union parishads under Kalapara upazila, 42 for chairman posts, 231 for general member posts and 56 for reserve female members posts in six union parishads under Mirzagonj upazila, 49 for chairman posts, 249 for general member posts and 76 for reserve female members posts in 6 union parishads under Dashmina upazila, 113 for chairman posts, 656 for general member posts and 207 for reserve female members posts in 16 union parishadfs under Galachipa upazila, and 10 for chairman posts, 98 for general member posts and 23 for reserve female members posts in three union parishads under Dumki upazila.
The date for withdrawal of candidature is March 13 for Baufal upazila, March 14 for Dashmina upazila, March 15 for Mirzagonj and Dumki upazila, March 16 for Kalapara upazila, March 17 for Galachipa upazila and March 18 for Patuakhali Sadar upazila.
The while voting will take place on March 29 in Baufal upazila, March 30 in Dashmina upazila, March 31 in Mirzagonj and Dumki upazilas, April 1 in Kalapara upazila, April 2 in Galachipa upazila and April 3 in Patuakhali Sadar upazila.
In Bhola 303 candidates submitted their nomination papers for Chairman posts, 623 for reserve female member posts and, 2268 for general member posts in 52 union parishads under six upazilas of the district.
