Mobile courts jail 4 more for stalking
Mobile courts have jailed four more youths and boys for stalking.
A mobile court in Phulbari upazila of Dinajpur on Wednesday jailed a youth for seven days for stalking, reports our correspondent.
Convict Toufiq Golam Sarwardi, 22, is son of Taslim Uddin of village Atpukur-Shonapara of the upazila. He is a student of Alim class at a local madrasa.
Shawkat Osman, officer-in-charge of Phulbari PS said the mobile court, led by UNO Protab Chandra Biswas caught him red-handed at Atapukur village of the upazila while he was teasing an SSC examinee and daughter of Shahidul Islam.
In Rangpur, a mobile court on Monday sentenced a teenage boy to 15 days' imprisonment for sexually harassing a schoolgirl in Kaunia upazila, reports UNB.
Source said convict Alamir Kabir, 16, son of Chan Mia of village Horishar in the upazila used to tease the class seven student of the same village on her way to school.
Police said on receiving complaint from the victim's guardians they nabbed Alamgir Kabir red-handed and handed him over to the mobile court.
Later, a mobile court led by executive magistrate Mohammad Anwar Hossain awarded the punishment.
In Sirajganj, a youth was sentenced to one year imprisonment on Sunday for sexually harassing a female SSC examinee.
Convict Mintu, 23, hails from Ghoshgati village in Ullapara upazila.
Police said entering into the local science exam centre, Mintu sexually harassed the girl at about 1:30pm.
On information, police arrested Mintu and produced him before the mobile court.
Later, the mobile court led by executive magistrate Abul Kalam Azad handed down the verdict.
On the same day in Benapole, Jessore, four youths were fined for teasing female school students.
The convicts are Foysal, 18, son of Robiul Islam, Mehedi Hasan Rajhu, 18, son of Ilias Khan of Gazipur village, Imran Hossain, 18, son of Manik Miah of Lautara vilalge in Sharsha upazila and Jasim, 15, son of last Sirajul Islam at Raypara village in Jessore Sadar upazila.
The court fined two of them Tk. 5,000, in default, to suffer three months imprisonment and two others Tk. 1,000 each, in default, to suffer one month.
Benapole port police said, on information they conducted a drive and arrested the four youths while they were sexually harassing a group of girls on their way to local Morium Memorial Girl's High School.
Later, the arrestees were produced before the mobile court led by UNO Kamrul Arif and the court after examining the witnesses awarded the punishment.
In Jamalpur, a mobile court on Saturday sentenced a youth to six months imprisonment for stalking a woman at Jamalpur rail station.
The court, led by executive magistrate Md Liakat Ali, also fined stalker Reza, 20, Tk. 5,000, in default, to suffer 15 days imprisonment more.
Source said Reza of Dewanpara vilalge in Sadar upazila was teasing a women at the station when she was waiting for train along with her daughter.
