Shima stops going to madrasa for stalking
Family's appeal for justice unheeded
Shima has stopped going to madrasa for fear of a local stalker.
She is a student of class eight at village Taraf Fazil in Sadullapur upazila.
A boy of an influential family has also threatened her family of dire consequences if they take legal shelter.
Locals said, Shima Khatun, 13, daughter of late Golzar Hossain was going to attend classes at Taraf Fazil Dakhil Madrasa on Saturday with some of her class mates.
On the way, stalker Khokon Mia, 16, son of Abdul Khaleque of same village waylaid and teased her using filthy language.
Despite raising protest by her mates Lima, Tahamina and Joba, Khokon forcibly took Shima to his house allegedly to violate her.
Hearing the hue and cry, local people came to the aid of the girl and rescued her from the house of stalker.
Parul Begum, mother of Shima complained on Saturday to madrasa superintendent Md. Ayub Ali and local union parishad member Ashraf Ali seeking justice.
They all assured her of taking measures in this regard.
Meanwhile, Khokon and his accomplices threatened Parul Begum of dire consequences if she goes for any legal steps.
Admitting the incident, Ayub Ali said, a negotiation between the two parties is in progress for amicable settlement of the matter.
"I have already told them that an appropriate measure will be taken against the stalker after investigation," said Rabiul Islam Dula, chairman of Rasoolpur union.
Family sources said, as the matter spread locally, the girl now refuses to come out of her home for fear of public disgrace.
Shima has also stopped going to madrasa fearing any further grave incident, as the stalker is still threatening, said her mother Parul Begum.
"I am yet to get any response to my appeal for justice. On the other hand I could not take any legal step due to pressure from influential quarters," she added.
