BGB bid to nab smugglers triggers clash

Three people were injured in a clash between BGB and villagers while two others were held by the border guards at Hili border early yesterday. Police and locals said, on secret information, a team of BGB from local camp stepped up patrolling to nab phensidyl smugglers in the border area at about 12:15am. A gang of smugglers attacked the BGB team as they chased them while by mistake the border guards beat up a local tempo driver Babu, 25, son of Kalam of Lengra Fakirpara village. This triggered a clash as the news spread and locals attacked the BGB members. Two more unidentified villagers were injured in the clash. Additional BGB members from Basudebpur and Hili Camp rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. BGB members nabbed Alamgir Lengra and Azam Ali in this connection.
