5 DB men, villager hurt in Dinajpur clash
Five members of the Detective Branch (DB) of police were injured and a villager received bullet-wound as villagers clashed with DB men suspecting them as robbers at Shalaipur village in Parbotipur police station early yesterday.
The injured were identified as DB police sub inspector (SI) Farhad, SI Jahangir, SI Sohel Rana, ASI Mahinur and constable Shafiullah and the villager Mahmudur, 30.
Police and locals said a team of DB police launched a drive to arrest Ziarul Haque, 35, accused in several cases, also the son of Mohammad Ali Master at village Shalaipur, at about 3:30am.
The clash ensued as the villagers surrounded and attacked the DB men leaving five of them and the villager wounded.
Mahmudur was admitted to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital while three injured police officers were admitted to local hospital.
