BNP leader's banana orchard destroyed
Ruling party men cut down around 1,000 banana plants at a BNP leader's orchard in Pirganj area under Sadar upazila on Monday.
Vice-president of Natore Sadar upazila unit BNP Rafiqul Islam, also the principal of Pirganj College said, he planted banana on one acre of land at Pirganj village. Monday morning local BCL and Jubo League activists led by BCL activist Anowar Hossain cut down the banana plants with sharp weapons due to a previous feud.
Refuting the allegation, Anowar said, he was not involved with the incident.
“I don't know who had cut down the banana plants at the orchard,” he said.
Shahidul Islam, Assistant Sub-inspector at Natore police station said, the banana plants were felled by criminals causing a great loss to Rafiqul Islam.
