15 sued, none arrested in triple murder case
A case was filed with Phulpur police station on Monday in connection with the murder of a mother and her two daughters by unknown assailants at Bhatta village under the police station in the early hours of the day.
However, none of the accused was arrested as of filing of this report at 5:00pm yesterday.
The victims are Khodeza Begum, 44, and her two daughters Zohora Khatun, 22, and Murshida, 10.
Khodeza's son Dulal filed the case against 15 people, including Emdad Hossain, a suspected mastermind behind the killing.
Police recovered the bodies of Khodeza and Murshida, a class III student, from a nearby pond at around 6:00am on Monday.
Physically challenged Zohora's body was found in a room of their house.
S Alam, officer-in-charge of Phulpur Police Station, suspected that the murder was premeditated and the victims were strangled.
Locals said Khodeza's husband Ali Hossain had a brawl with his neighbour Sufia Begum over the rent of a shallow machine on Friday.
Ali beat up another neighbour Emdad Hossain on Saturday following a quarrel with him over the same issue, they added.
Police said Emdad was admitted to Phulpur upazila health complex and shifted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital on Sunday night. Ali Hossain had gone into hiding after Emdad filed a case against him.
Sub-Inspector Abdul Haque, also the investigation officer of the case, said Emdad left the hospital Monday morning. Law enforcers are raiding the different areas to arrest the culprits, he added.
Khodeza and her two daughters were buried at their family graveyard at 11:00am yesterday.
