Stalker jailed, 2 others sued

A stalker was jailed in Sirajganj while two others were sued in Satkhira on Wednesday. In Sirajganj, a mobile court convicted a young man for stalking a girl and sentenced him to one-year imprisonment at Boroitoli village under Kazipur upazila on Wednesday, reports our correspondent. The youth was identified as Shahidul Islam, 22, of the same village. Police and locals said Shahidul used to stalk Jannatul Ferdous, daughter of Hena Talukdar. Wednesday morning Shahidul went to the house of Jannatul with a knife and tried to kidnap her forcibly. As the neighbours came to the rescue of the girl, Shahidul fled away. Later, on complaints from the father of the girl, a mobile court sentenced Shahidul to one year imprisonment. In Satkhira, a case was filed with Sadar police station on Wednesday accusing two people of stalking a college student, reports our correspondent. The accused are Sanjit Karmakar, 25, son of Dilip Karmakar and Dipu Karmakar of village Magura in Sadar upazila. But police could not arrest the accused as they went into hiding soon after filing the complaint, police said. Victim's father Kalipada Karmakar had filed the case with Sadar police station. The complainant alleged that the accused, Sanjit and his accomplice Dipu used to stalk Sanchita Karmakar, 16, off and on. On Wednesday, they stopped her when she came out of the college after attending classes at Satkhira Day and Night College in the town and tried to abduct her at about 2:30 pm. When locals came to rescue the girl the stalkers fled away, police said.
