Four youths commit 'suicide' in Chuadanga, Kushtia
Three young women and a man allegedly committed suicide in Kushtia and Chuadanga on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Of the four cases, three took place in Chuadanga, while the other in Kushtia.
Sumona Khatun, 16, daughter of Nizam Uddin of Shankardia in Sadar upazila in Kushtia allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself on Wednesday morning.
Sumona was an SSC examinee this year.
According to family sources and police, Sumona was married to one Rafiqul Islam of Abdulpur in the same upazila four months ago. She was unhappy in conjugal life.
Sumona was staying at her father's house after one month of the marriage snapping relation with husband. On Wednesday morning, Sumona was found hanging in her room.
Police from Islamic University PS rushed to the spot and recovered the body. Later, the body was buried without any autopsy.
In Chuadanga, Santona Khatun, 16, daughter of Bablur Rahman of Eidgahpara area in the town allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself on Tuesday afternoon.
Santona was appearing in the on-going SSC examination.
Police said Santona had a feud with her family members due to her 'secret' marriage with a man in the area.
Family members often abused Santona over the issue. Recently Santona announced that she would go with her husband after the end of SSC examination.
At this, her father abused her and beat her up.
In the afternoon, Santona went to neighbour Khokon's house and committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
In another incident, Shapla Khatun, 24, wife of Siddikur Rahman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at Hatkaluganj village in Sadar upazila on Wednesday noon.
Police said Siddikur often beat up Shapla over various family matters.
On the day, the couple locked in altercation and at one stage Siddikur mercilessly beat up Shapla.
After a while, Shapla killed herself by hanging from the ceiling of the room.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
Besides, police recovered the body of Suruj Ali, 22, from behind the local Roads and Highway office on Tuesday evening.
Police said Suruj, son of Akubbar Hossain of the same area of the town took poison.
Family feud was the cause behind the suicide, police said.
