Gang leader of Jamalpur bank robbery held
Police arrested a gang leader on charge of looting about Tk 45 lakh of Uttara Bank of Jamalpur branch in the wee hours of February 3 from Satkhira.
The arrestee, Abdur Rab of village Pirojpur in Assassuni upazila of Satkhira district, is the leader of a gang involved in such crimes across the country, said ASP (Jamalpur Sadar Circle) Saifur Rahman who nabbed the criminal from his village house.
"Abdur Rab and his accomplices allegedly looted Tk 44 lakh and 97 thousand from Jamalpur branch of Uttara Bank Ltd. He is also accused of looting Satkhira branch of Islami Bank in 2007," the ASP said.
On January 26 night, criminals looted Jamalpur branch of Uttara Bank opening the lock of the volt.
Following a case filed with Sadar police station, earlier police arrested security guards Ramij Uddin and Saiful Islam, who were on duty in the bank that night, on suspicion of their involvement in the incident.
