Trial of serial blast cases in Satkhira now Feb 28
Trial of the cases for serial blasts in Satkhira town on August 17 in 2005 has been deferred to February 28 as the prosecution failed to produce all the accused in the Additional Sessions Judge's Court.
Only seven out of 19 charge-sheeted accused were produced in the court on Thursday, court sources said. Judge Sharif Uddin Azad rejected the bail prayers of the accused and asked the prosecution to produce all the accused in the court on February 28.
Those who were produced before the court are Nasir uddin Dafadar, Maniruzzaman Munna, Nur Ali, Gias Uddin, Momtajul Islam, Billal Hossain, and Habibur Rahman alias Ismail.
Police filed five cases with Sadar Police Station soon after serial blasts in the district town.
The then assistant police superintendent (ASP) Munshi Atiquur Rahman, also the investigation officer (IO) of the cases, pressed charges against the accused on April 4 in 2006.
