Robbery at Opposition Chief Whip's house
Robbers looted valuables from the village home of Opposition Chief Whip Zainul Abdin Farroque in Senbag upazila early yesterday.
Family sources said, a gang of robbers entered the house at Yarpur village by breaking the lock and took away gold ornaments, gold medals, a television, a laptop and some other valuables worth abut Tk 15 lakh in absence of the members of the house.
Police Superintendent Harun-ur-Rashid visited the spot. He said they have taken steps to arrest the robbers and recover the looted valuables.
In a separate incident, robbers looted cash and valuables worth tk 20 lakh and injured four people at Bazra village under Sonaimuri upazila.
Police quoting locals said, a gang of armed robbers swooped on the house of Bhasan Kuri and Dulal Kuri of the area early yesterday.
They looted cash, gold ornaments, television and mobile phone sets from four rooms of the house keeping the members of the family hostage at gun point.
Four injured by the gang are Tutul Chandra Kuri, 30, Roktim Kuri, 26, Bhasan Kuri, 50, and Ajit Kuri, 45.
Bullet-hit Tutul was rushed to Noakhali General Hospital while the others were admitted to a local clinic.
