Safe drinking water plant in Kushtia
A safe drinking water plant was inaugurated on Tuesday at Dighalkandi village at Daulatpur in Kushtia.
Launched at the initiative of British American Tobacco (BAT) Bangladesh, the plant aims at providing safe drinking water in arsenic prone areas.
The company recently launched PROBAHO, Bangla to implement the project.
Bazlul Haq Mian, Additional Director, Agricultural Extension Department, Jessore, formally inaugurated the plant in Kushtia.
BAT Bangladesh's Managing Director Arun Kaul, Head of Supply Chain Zafar Aslam Khan and Head of Leaf Zahurul H Sarker were also present.
As a part of PROBAHO, the safe drinking water initiative, BAT Bangladesh has so far installed 12 filtration plants to make water free from arsenic and other harmful contents. The other PROBAHO plants are located in Manikganj, Satkhira, Meherpur, Jhenidah, Tangail, Kurigram and Chuadanga districts.
