Locals again blocked Natore-Rajshahi highway at Gawnpara Dhalan in Sadar upazila yesterday demanding construction of a speed breaker to check road accident. They first blocked the highway on Saturday after a class two student of a local primary school was injured in an accident on the road. Abdullah Al Mamun, officer-in-charge of Natore Police Station, said Poppy Khatun, daughter of Abdul Mumin of Majhipara village under the upazila, was hit by a microbus while crossing the road at around 11:0am. Locals rushed Poppy to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where she is undergoing treatment. Immediately after the accident, locals put up barricade on the road demanding construction a speed breaker. They, however, withdrew the barricade after local administration assured them of meeting their demand. At 11:30am yesterday, local people again blocked the road at the same point, disrupting traffic for one and a half hours. They withdrew the barricade as Roads and Highways Department began work for construction of a speed breaker on the highway at around 1:00pm.
