BGB, BSF agree to keep Sylhet border peaceful
Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at a sector commander level meeting at Tamabil check post yesterday agreed to maintain peace on Sylhet-Meghalaya border.
BGB Sylhet Sector Commander Col Md Khairuzzaman led a six-member team while BSF Special DG of Meghalaya Pranay Sahay led an eight-member team at the talks.
Trans-border problems like smuggling, intrusion and timber lifting came up for discussion.
As the BGB officials drew attention of the BSF officials to the recent attempts by Indian tribesmen to grab crop lands at different points of Sylhet-Meghalaya border, the Indian side assured them of looking into the allegation soon.
Both sides stressed the need for successful completion of the ongoing survey on the Sylhet-Meghalaya border, an official informed.
